I have listed this as Ownership History available. Here is what I know of the history of this piece. About 10 years ago I bought this item at a small town NC estate auction. It was the estate of a woman who served as a missionary in the Belgium Congo for most of the 1950s. She was removed in 1960 when Belgium handed over control. At that time she retired to her NC home town. Upon her death her niece who inherited and from whom I have this history held the auction and sold an extensive collection of African artifacts she had collected during her time in Africa. I assume this piece was made in the Belgium Congo but it is possible she may have traveled elsewhere in Africa so having no expertise in African art I make no positive claim as to exactly where in Africa or by which tribe it was made.
Excellent condition, probably never worn.
