    Description

Antique African large knife measuring 19" long with 3.75" wide blade.  This style is attributed to the Kuba and associated tribes in the Congo region.  This type is often referred to as Ikula which is a ceremonial, prestige or currency blade.  The blade pattern is a variant from typical styles and is considered scarce.  Estimated time period is 1860 to 1920.  This piece is being sold for a young lady in her 90's whose husband amassed an impressive collection of African items while they lived in Zambia in the 1960's.  A larger and heavier than normal example in very nice condition with some age degradation to handle as pictured.  Thanks for looking!
